Re-Start of Stonehaven-East Charlotte Area Patrol

I am very pleased to announce, that after some time in limbo due to the virulent anti-police mobs in our country, with God’s grace we are restarting our Stonehaven / East Charlotte Area Patrol activities to continue serving our Lord Jesus Christ through public safety.  Over the past 12 years the Patrol has expanded by request from covering just Stonehaven to many neighborhoods in East Charlotte as violent crime and murder has exploded across our city.

Back in 2009 our community was experiencing an uptick in criminal incidents and with my experiences and training as a Police Officer & Deputy Constable in my native Pennsylvania I wanted to do something about it. After much prayer, God gave me the idea of using the skills he blessed me with to establish the Patrol which I did as a North Carolina non-profit organization.

The Patrol operates under the authority of North Carolina General Statute (NCGS) 15A-404 “Detention of Offenders by Private Persons” as well as numerous decisions from local, state and federal courts pertaining to the authority of private individuals to apprehend & detain actors found to be engaged in criminal activity amounting to a breach of the peace.

Through this program I conduct uniformed patrols in a “marked” patrol vehicle equipped with green & white emergency lighting as well as an emergency siren & public address system trying to be as visible as possible to would be criminals. I respond to calls for service such as suspicious persons, vehicles & circumstances from residents. I also respond to requests to assist Officers of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Dept.

In addition, I perform “Patrol Checks” of homes and properties when requested to do so by residents.

The Patrol does not charge or ask a fee from anyone for any activities carried out, does not receive tax dollars from any government entity, and is funded solely by donations made by residents of the communities served and the general public.

I do not receive financial compensation for the time I spend serving our communities through the Patrol as all donations received go toward patrol vehicle maintenance, gasoline costs, and supplies such as flashlight batteries, uniforms, etc.

The Patrol has been featured in several local television reports as well as the Charlotte Observer and to my knowledge is the only Patrol program of its kind in the Charlotte Area. In addition, the Patrol received the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Citizen Service Award.

If you would like me to visit your community for general patrols when I’m out in the patrol vehicle please let me know and I will try my best to do so as often as possible.

Visit the Patrol web-site, www.scpatrol.org to learn more about the Patrol and myself as well.

Please pray that we will be able to continue serving Christ through public safety and donate to our efforts if you’re able.
