An active police situation in Charlotte concluded in the afternoon of Saturday, April 5, 2014 with a man’s arrest.
Police responded to the scene in the 3100 block of Seymour Drive on Saturday afternoon for a report of a gunshot wound.
Diane Burns, 51, was taken to CMC Main with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead a the hospital.
The SWAT Team was called in to assist with the situation. A witness, who was inside the house at the start of the altercation tells NBC Charlotte, the suspect was arguing with the victim after she allegedly stole his money. The suspect, whose name has not been released, is accused of shooting Burns.
Witnesses tell NBC Charlotte they heard about five shots.
The man barricaded himself inside a home on Seymour Drive but surrendered after a short time.
