Joggers Attacked Along Fairview Rd. in Foxcroft Neighborhood, February 28, 2014

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have stepped-up patrols after a man attacked two joggers off of Fairview Rd., near Simsbury Rd., in the Foxcroft Neigborhood.

Friday, February 28, 2014, police say two women were jogging on a popular trail along Fairview Road. When the two women neared the tunnel in the 7800 block of Fairview Road, they were approached by a man who told them to run in the opposite direction.

The women stopped and the man assaulted both of them. The victim sustained minor injuries, police say.

The suspect is described as a clean-shaven white male in his late 20s with a light complexion, medium build, dark eyebrows and was neat in appearance. Authorities say he was wearing a blue hoodie, black athletic shorts and a green toboggan with cream-colored stripes.

Police say the suspect may have been riding an older-style black bicycle.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have stepped-up patrols in the area by deploying more officers on foot, bicycles, and even street / trail motorcycles along the walking trail.

Investigators are following-up on a few leads. Meanwhile, if you have any information that may assist police in this case, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
