The U.S. Marshals Service, in conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, arrested two people in connection with the theft of five weapons and other tactical police gear stolen from a Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputy’s patrol car.
Charles Nance, 21, and 23-year-old Roger Rios were arrested Monday by U.S. Marshals and CMPD as the pair passed through Mecklenburg County.

A Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputy was attending a training conference at a Gastonia hotel when the trunk of his patrol vehicle was broken into and weapons and tactical gear were stolen back in January.
Stolen items include a Glock model 23, .40 semi-automatic handgun with night sights, a Steamlight TRL-1 Tac light, a Safariland Glock drop leg ALS holster, a Smith and Wesson M&P15 .223 fully automatic rifle, a Remington .308, a model 700 LTR Police Sniper rifle with scope, bipod and hard case and two police tactical vests.
Authorities say a second patrol vehicle that belongs to the High Point Police Department was also broken in to and items stolen. Gastonia police released a picture of the suspect vehicle.
Nance and Rios are both charged with two counts each of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and larceny, along with once count of conspiracy. Additionally, Rios is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Rios’ bond is set at $100,000; Nance’s bond is set at $75,000.
Nance and Rios have both been transferred to the Gaston County Jail.
