CMPD Seeking Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect in January 16, 2014 Sardis Rd. North Bank Robbery

 

It was the third armed robbery this week of a business on Sardis Road North in southeast Charlotte, and the robberies took place within a few hundred yards of each other: the Cook Out restaurant and the Gamestop store in the Galleria Shopping Center were robbed at gunpoint previously.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and the FBI are asking the public’s help in identifying the man who robbed a bank at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.

It was the third armed robbery this week of a business on Sardis Road North in southeast Charlotte, and the robberies took place within a few hundred yards of each other.

The latest heist was reported about 4:15 p.m. at the BB&T branch in the Galleria shopping center area.

Police say a man demanded money from a teller and then ran off. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set black male, about 5 feet 7, wearing a black zip-up jacket, dark pants and a black toboggan hat.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the FBI in Charlotte, 704-672-6100, or Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.

Earlier this week, the Cook Out restaurant and the Gamestop store in the Sardis Road North area were robbed at gunpoint. Police did not say if they think the robberies might be related.

No arrests have been announced in the three crimes.
