CMPD Seeking Public’s Help in January 7, 2014 Theft of Copper Wire that Resulted in Fire

From http://www.wcnc.com, January 8, 2014

Thieves did thousands of dollars worth of damage when trying to steal from a Charlotte business Tuesday.

It happened just before 3 a.m. at the Ashley Furniture location in the 2100 block of Distribution Center Drive.

The suspects pried open a power box connected to the building, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Investigators say they tried, but failed to steal the shop’s copper tubing. A fire started during their attempt. Police say they’re also responsible for graffiti on the property.

In total, the damage amounted to $12,000.

CMPD Officers are asking that anyone that may have information on this incident call them via 911.
