CMPD Officer Shot while Serving Warrant in Fort Mill; Suspect in Custody

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was shot in Fort Mill while trying to execute a search warrant.

Police said the Officer Shane Page was assisting during a warrant service inside a residence on Brookside Drive when there was exchange of gunfire between the suspect and officers.

Page and the suspect, 33-year-old James William Lewis, were shot during the exchange.

Lewis sustained non-life threatening injuries and Page sustained serious injuries but is in stable condition, according to police.

Page and suspect were transported local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Page has been a member with the CMPD since September 27, 2000.  He is assigned to the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Lewis was wanted for robbery with a dangerous weapon.

As of 10:30 a.m., investigators were still processing the crime scene.

Neighbors told NBC Charlotte reporter Richard DeVayne that an elderly couple lives at the home where the shooting took place.
