CMPD Explorer Christmas Project Seeking Public’s Help

From Officer Ryan Botzenmayer of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Dept., December 5, 2013

Since 1974, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the CMPD Police Explorers have partnered with the community to provide Christmas for families in need. Last year we were able to help 700 families and 2,000 children experience the joy of Christmas by providing food and gifts to these families.

As the holiday season approaches, we want to invite you to take part in this most worthy cause. We provide each family with a ham and numerous nonperishable foods so they may enjoy a traditional “Christmas meal” as well as new non violent gifts for children 14 and under.

A program of this size goes beyond the reach of what we at the Police Department can do on our own. It is only through the generous giving of people and groups such as yours, that we can meet the need that is present in our community. There are several ways for individuals and groups to get involved and help us meet our goal this year. Monetary donations can be made to the CMPD Police Explorers Post 247 that will be used to buy toys, food and other essential items for the families.

In addition, Donations of new, non-violent toys are also needed. Will you partner with us as we seek to reach out to those in our communities that are in need this Christmas?
