Stolen Guns, Including FBI Agent’s Rifle, Found During Drug Investigation

From by Allison Latos, September 5, 2013

Stolen guns, including an assault rifle taken from an FBI agent’s car, are now back in the hands of police.

Police charged three men after a tip to officers led to the weapons Tuesday.

Court records show police started investigating when property managers at River Birch Apartments called officers over concerns of drug activity.

Police records show officers went to 8411 River Birch Drive, Number 204, to investigate the complaint and smelled marijuana. They said the three men inside, Meshal Alsweel, Abdulaziz Algfari and Isaiah Nixon, would not let them in, so officers obtained a search warrant.

When police returned, they found drugs and five guns, three of which were stolen.

Eyewitness News reported last month that someone broke into an FBI agent’s car in SouthPark, stealing his M-16 assault rifle, a shotgun, night-vision equipment and body armor. The shotgun and equipment are still missing, but police were able to confirm that one of the recovered guns was the assault rifle.

Police said they are still investigating how the stolen guns ended up inside the apartment.

Apartment-complex staff members said they’re happy that residents at River Birch won’t have to worry anymore about what’s happening upstairs.

The FBI is still offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps them find the agent’s missing shotgun.
