Police search for man they say assaulted an officer

Eyewitness News saw a police presence on Milton Road Thursday night. Channel 9 watched as officers pulled over cars and spoke with people in the neighborhood.

Officers are looking for Tony Johnson, 29, and they’re offering a $1,000 reward.

CMPD said he’s a convicted felon who was wanted on warrants, but when police spotted him on Milton Road and tried to arrest him, they say he attacked the officer.

Police say during the assault, the man was carrying a firearm — and that has neighbors concerned.

Johnson was previously convicted and served time for felony breaking and entering, and larceny.

Now, he’s wanted for assaulting a police officer.
