Brazen Crook Uses a Big Gun to Rob Two Late-Night Charlotte Businesses

From By Paul Cameron, Anchor – October 6, 2011

A brazen crook uses a big gun to rob two late-night Charlotte businesses.

He started his crime at a Burger King drive-thru near Lawyers and Albemarle Roads at 11:30PM on a Tuesday night.

He demanded cash and got it from a clerk who remembered his description– black male, black clothes, black hat and driving a silver Pontiac.

“He drove off from the Burger King,” said CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson, “he drove approximately a mile and a half away, and did the same thing.”

15 minutes later, the same man is seen on surveillance video entering a Circkle-K with plenty of customers in the convenience store. But that was no matter. And neither were the surveillance cameras. He didn’t cover his face, but he did swing his hat around to face forward.

He’s also carrying a heavy-looking sawed off shotgun.

When he demands money from the cash register, the clerk obliges, and customers who had been unaware of the threat, suddenly make a hasty exit.

The robber also leaves quickly and gets in a silver Pontiac which had just pulled up to park. The car peels rubber leaving and the clerk calls police.

I asked Detective Cuthbertson if the two stick-ups were worth the risk? “No, not at all,” said Cuthbertson, “only a small amount of cash was stolen from each location, and that may have been the thing that enticed him to rob two locations.”

If you can help catch him, call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600– you may earn a reward up to one-thousand dollars.
