MATTHEWS, N.C. – Police in Matthews are warning neighbors about door-to-door solicitors after receiving a number of complaints.

Police say they’ve received reports of two white females in their mid- to late 20s who have knocked on doors, saying they are selling magazine subscriptions. According to police the women have said that the proceeds from will somehow support troops in Iraq.

The women have also made statements about being affiliated with UNC-Charlotte.

A preliminary investigation has shown that neither of those statements are true and police believe the subscription sales to be a scam.
