Stonehaven Community Patrol Officer Brian Lutes apprehended and detained a man near the intersection of Jester Lane and Wheeler Drive in Stonehaven Saturday night (Sunday morning), November 7, 2010 around 1 A.M. after observing him openly urinating in a residential driveway.
Upon investigation it was determined that the intoxicated 31 year-old white male lived at the residence, where the public urinating took place, with his grandmother.
The man, who said he was very embarrassed by the incident, was released to the custody of his grandmother after explaining that he had just been droped off by his girl-friend after attending a party where he obviously consumed too much alcohol. Before releasing the man Lutes checked with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Dept. and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office to make sure the man was not wanted on any outstanding warrants.
Lutes has forwarded a copy of the report of the incident to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Dept. where a decision as to whether or not to prosecute the man for the conduct will be made.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know your thoughts on this incident.
Certainly you realize that the issue isn’t so much where he was doing this, but the fact that he was doing it openly in the middle of the driveway where anyone’s children, wife, mother, or even grandmother could have seen him and his “personal effects”.
Perhaps you are sorry you missed it.
