CMPD Seeking Woman for Dragging Officer with Her Car

An officer was dragged by a car then knocked to the ground during an investigation in South Charlotte early Saturday.

And now police say they’re trying to locate Amanda Elaine Sawyer, who they believe was driving the Dodge Magnum in question.

The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say Officer C. Cho was assisting in an investigation about a man who’d run from police officers during an early-morning traffic stop.

He saw Sawyer in a blue Dodge Magnum, parked in a business park nearby. As Cho tried to speak with her, police say, she got into her car and drove off. Cho was briefly dragged by the car, police say.

Other officers began chasing the Dodge Magnum, but the pursuit was terminated.

Cho’s injuries are not life-threatening. He was treated at Carolinas Medical Center and released.

Anyone with information about Amanda Sawyer should call 911 or Investigator J. Wood at 704-432-2169.
